Frequently Asked Questions

How does pill counting work?

PillVault uses on-device AI (Apple Vision) to detect and count pills from your iPhone camera. Place pills on a flat, contrasting surface for best results. All processing happens on your device — no images are sent to any server.

How accurate is the pill count?

The AI detection is highly accurate for most pill types on contrasting surfaces. For best results, spread pills apart on a light-colored surface with good lighting. You can always manually adjust the count after scanning.

Is my medication data private?

Yes. All data stays on your device. PillVault uses 100% on-device processing — no cloud, no account required, zero data sent to servers. Your medication information never leaves your iPhone.

How do refill alerts work?

PillVault calculates when each medication will run out based on your current pill count and daily dosage. You'll receive a notification when supply is running low, so you have time to reorder.

What's included in the free version?

Free users get 3 pill scans per day, 1 medication tracked, basic refill alerts (3-day warning), and 7-day scan history. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited scans, all medications, custom alerts, and more.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your PillVault Premium subscription anytime through your iPhone: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > PillVault > Cancel. You'll keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase Premium. Your subscription will be restored automatically. If not, open PillVault and tap "Restore Purchases" on the Premium screen.

Troubleshooting

Camera isn't detecting pills

Make sure you've granted camera permission in Settings > PillVault > Camera. For best detection, use a flat surface with good contrast (e.g., white pills on a dark surface), ensure good lighting, and spread pills apart.

Notifications aren't working

Check that notifications are enabled in Settings > PillVault > Notifications. Make sure "Allow Notifications" is turned on and your alert style is set to Banners or Alerts.
